At Paulton Dental & Implant Centre, we offer a number of restorative treatments which will help you to smile confidently again. We have a range of comprehensive treatments available to meet the aesthetic, psychological, and functional needs of our patients. After an initial examination, our dentists will recommend any restorative dental care needed, but if you want to enquire about our treatment, then contact us by phone or email. We’re always happy to help.
Fillings
Tooth structure and integrity can become compromised by decay, which softens the tooth surface, and this results in a cavity (a hole in the tooth). Tooth structure can also become compromised due to tooth wear, cracks or breaks, excessive forces during function, or trauma. Fillings may also be required if an accident causes damage to teeth.
A filling builds up a tooth to its original natural size and shape in order to revive the function and appearance of the missing tooth structure. As fillings can vary in size, pricing can go up from our set amount for larger teeth.
Crowns
A crown (also known as a cap) is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth.
You may need a crown in the following situations:
- To strengthen and restore a tooth that has decayed, broken, or has a large filling in place.
- To improve the aesthetics of a discolored, chipped tooth.
- Following the root canal treatment, the dentist will protect what is left of the tooth.
Bridges
Missing teeth can affect the way you eat, talk, and smile, and can lead to a lack of self-confidence. Remaining teeth can cause issues by moving to fill the missing gap(s), which can lead to a misaligned and uncomfortable bite. Food can also get trapped in the gaps, which causes both decay and gum disease.
Bridges are a solution to missing teeth; they are cemented onto existing teeth on one or both sides by using resin or cement. They are an alternative to dental implants for patients who don’t wish to have surgery. Similar to crowns, bridges can be made of different materials and can be carefully matched to the natural color of your teeth.
Dentures
Dentures are worn to replace lost or missing teeth and protect teeth from unwanted movements, which may affect their bite and cause damage to remaining teeth. Dentures allow you to eat a more varied, healthier diet, which may have been previously restricted.
Dentures are made of either acrylic or metal. A ‘complete’ or ‘full’ denture replaces all the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaw. Whilst a ‘partial’ denture fills in the spaces left by lost or missing teeth. It can be fastened to your natural teeth with metal clasps or ‘precision attachments’.
Dentures can improve confidence in your smile, and for patients who are not suitable for implants/bridges, they are a fantastic alternative.
What is restorative dentistry?
Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing or replacing damaged, decayed, or missing teeth to restore function and appearance. At Paulton Dental, our restorative treatments include fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, and dental implants — all designed to help you eat and smile with confidence.
When do I need a restorative dental treatment?
You may need restorative treatment if you have tooth decay, chips, cracks, wear, or missing teeth. Our dentists will assess your oral health and recommend the most suitable solution to restore strength, stability, and aesthetics to your smile.
What are the benefits of restorative dentistry?
Restorative dentistry not only improves the look of your smile but also enhances chewing comfort, speech, and long-term oral health. It helps prevent further damage and keeps your remaining natural teeth healthy and functional.
How long do restorative dental treatments last?
The lifespan of restorations depends on the treatment type and how well you care for your teeth. With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups at Paulton Dental, fillings and crowns can last many years, while implants and bridges can last even longer.
Is restorative dental treatment painful?
Most restorative procedures are performed under local anaesthetic, ensuring your comfort throughout the treatment. You might experience slight sensitivity or tenderness afterward, but this usually settles quickly as your mouth heals.
