Why an Upper Wisdom Tooth Needs Removal
Some upper wisdom teeth grow normally and never cause trouble. Others become trapped, push against nearby teeth, or collect food in a spot that is difficult to clean. That quiet problem can turn annoying later.
Recovery After the Tooth Is Removed
The first couple of days are about being sensible. Follow the dentist’s instructions and don’t try to test the healing area by poking it with your tongue every ten minutes. Everyone does that. Almost.
• Soft meals for a short period, since chewing hard food right away is asking for irritation.
• Rest when your mouth feels tired. The body handles healing better when you stop fighting it.
Is Upper Wisdom Tooth Extraction Worth It?
If your upper wisdom tooth is causing repeated trouble, extraction is usually the better choice. Keeping a problematic tooth around because the removal sounds scary rarely works out well.
But if your wisdom tooth is healthy and causing no problems, your dentist may simply monitor it. Not every wisdom tooth needs to disappear.
