dental hygiene
Bad breath can be surprisingly stubborn. You brush your teeth, rinse your mouth, and a few hours later, there it is again. Halitosis is the medical term for ongoing bad breath, and the smell usually starts somewhere in the mouth.
The good news? You don’t need to attack it with mouthwash every hour. The better approach is to find what’s causing it and deal with that first.
Clean Your Tongue Daily
A tongue scraper is worth using. Honestly, I’d pick one over drowning your mouth in strong mouthwash all day. Gently scrape from the back toward the front once or twice, then rinse the scraper and your mouth.
Don’t Forget Between Your Teeth
Priya noticed this after she started flossing at night. She’d been brushing before bed but kept skipping the gaps between her back teeth because she was tired and wanted to sleep.
A week later, she stopped reopening the same five tabs every morning to search for “how to get rid of bad breath.” Small change. Pretty obvious result.
Watch What Makes It Worse
Some habits make bad breath hang around longer. Smoking is a big one. So is constantly breathing through your mouth.
Know When You Need a Dentist
A dentist can check for those causes and look for plaque or gum problems that aren’t obvious when you’re brushing at home. And if your mouth looks healthy, they can help work out whether something outside the mouth is involved.
The trick is to treat the cause rather than cover the smell. Mint makes you feel cleaner for a while. Fixing what’s producing the odor is what actually gets it out of your way.
So if your breath keeps coming back, maybe the question isn’t “Which mouthwash should I buy next?” Maybe it’s “What keeps causing this?”
