Erupted Wisdom Tooth

Signs Your Wisdom Tooth Has Erupted

A new tooth at the back of your mouth is usually the biggest clue. Still, your mouth gives other hints too.

• A small white edge showing behind your last molar, which is often the first thing people spot while brushing.

Is an Erupted Wisdom Tooth a Problem?

Here’s the thing. A fully erupted wisdom tooth that sits straight and stays clean usually does not need to be removed. Keeping it is often completely fine. The idea that every wisdom tooth must come out is outdated.

But an erupted tooth can still create problems if it does not have enough room. The gum around it may become irritated. The tooth may be harder to clean. Sometimes it grows at an angle even though part of it has already appeared.
