How Often Should You Brush to Prevent Plaque?

1 min read

Why Twice a Day Makes Sense

• Morning brushing, ideally after breakfast or as part of your usual morning routine, gets the day started with a cleaner mouth.

• Two minutes at night is the big one, because plaque has had hours to build up and you don’t want to leave it there while you sleep.

The Habit Is the Real Win

Twice-daily brushing works well if you make it boringly consistent. Keep your toothbrush where you’ll see it. Use a fluoride toothpaste. Replace the brush when the bristles start looking worn rather than waiting until it’s completely flattened.

And maybe that’s why the simple routine wins. Two minutes in the morning. Two minutes before bed. Not glamorous. Not complicated. Just enough to keep plaque from getting comfortable.

If four minutes a day feels like too much, how much time are you really willing to give plaque?
