When Should You Worry About Pain?
Some discomfort after an extraction is expected. Severe pain that gets worse after a couple of days is different. A bad taste or smell from the socket can also be a reason to contact your dentist especially if the pain is increasing.
Dry socket is another cause of strong pain after an extraction. It occurs when the blood clot that normally protects the socket is lost or breaks down early. Your dentist can treat it. Help control the pain.
