Molars sit behind the premolars, which are the teeth between your pointed canine teeth and your back chewing teeth. Adults usually have molars in both the upper jaw and the lower jaw. Each side of your mouth has its own set working together.

• The back row of teeth does most of the crushing work, which is why losing a molar can feel strange at first.
• A wide chewing surface. It gives molars the power they need, even though you rarely think about them.
